It has been more than a decade since Splendid China closed its doors, leaving a large, vacant space in its wake. This land has finally been reimagined into what will become a Jimmy Buffett style MargaritaVillage Resort.
This highly anticipated village spread out over 305 acres will have a hotel featuring 175-300 rooms, more than 1000 vacation homes and condos, as well as retail space and beach area. Resort Amenities include plans for a "FinCity" arcade, St. Somewhere spa, Son of a Sailor fishing school, paddle boarding and kayaking.
Construction is set to begin in the 3rd quarter of 2016 with its first phase to open in 2017. Developers expect the resort to be completed within 6 months of the first opening. Members of Experience Kissimmee, the local tourism and marketing board rave that MargaritaVillage will be a great asset to the area. Developers expect to bring 700 new full time jobs.
I for one cant wait to have a margarita in what I can only assume will be a tropical, laid back community that only Jimmy Buffett can promote.

Disney World is adding another interactive activity — this one with a pirate theme — to its theme park lineup this spring. A Pirate's Adventure: Treasures of the Seven Seas will debut in the Magic Kingdom's Adventureland. An exact date was not announced.
Disney is sketchy on many details of the attraction, but according to the official Disney Parks Blog, guests will help Captain Jack on a quest using a map and "magic talisman" to complete five pirate raids in Adventureland.
Other Disney World games include the Disney Agent P World Showcase Adventure at Epcot and Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, which debuted last year. Unlike the Sorcerers game, there will be no collectible cards to activate the effects, Disney said.
A Disney-supplied illustration of Pirate's Adventure appears to show skulls with laser-beam eyes amid Adventureland attractions such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Swiss Family Treehouse. Also in the scene are circling sharks, firing cannons and tents selling goods such as ships in bottles and shrunken heads.
Well, not the grand opening, as there will be several grand openings for different areas of Fantasyland.
